Tons of love for the Benq, many around here agree, just type that model# into this site's search and see. Download the Qsuite from their website to automatically booktype +R DVD to read as DVD-ROM's and to use many other quality options.
I wouldn't get a Sony burner based simply on it's price. There are many burners of comparable quality for much less. Also, any burner that burns DVD-Rs is able to burn mini DVD-Rs as far as I know.
Quote:Im looking to get a new burner to burn backup games. Based on reaserch these are my top ones. Anyone have luck with these?
Neither. Grab a Plexy PX-712A or 716A. I backed up Madden NFL 2006 CD-ROM version(Safedisc) easily, but had problems with SecuROM 5.0. These 2 drives also rip many audio cd protections. For write quality, I can verify the BenQ 1640 provides superior write quality using Taiyo Yuden(FujiFilm or Sony/Must be made in Japan)) or Verbatim media.
