I just installed a new 20GB hard drive on my computer and I am trying to copy DVD's to my hard drive but I can't even get past the first step because it says space required is like 4,438 MB or something like that but that my available space is only like 1,711 MB. I have tried using every folder as my target drive, even the desktop but the available space is the same in every folder. This doesn't make sense to me, especially because I just bought this new hard drive with so much space. I don't know too much about computers but any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks

I don't want to rain on your parade or anything, but 20 gigs is not that big. You get the error message because you are trying to put 4.3 gigs on a 20 gig HDD that only has 1.7 gigs free. Are there any progs you can delete? Are there other movies on the drive that have already been burnt that can be erased? It is recommended to have at least 8 gigs free to begin authoring DVD's, but it better to have around 12 gigs free. Example: Rip to HD with DVD Decrypter of a DVD-9 = 4.5 gigs-8 gigs. Encoding the same movie to fit on a DVD-5 = another 4.3 gigs for a total of 8.8 - 12 gigs.

Locoeng is correct. Your programs have used up most of your hard drive already. You should do what I did and get one much bigger. The price is coming down on them so you should be able to get a 160gb for around $60.00.

Good Luck.
