Tried everything to backup Stealth. Used DVDFab Decrypter for Bewitched and eventually got it to take, but now every time I use it my computer crashes to the serious error blue screen and I have to reboot. Tried using DVDFab on another non Sony DVD and crashed as well. Also tried using DVD43 with Shrink and it gave me an error message "Invalid DVD navigation structure". I really hate Sony and will think twice about buying from them. I have avoided buying a program until now as I really hate to buy something that I can't return if it doesn't work. Tried a "trial" of one of the recommended programs but couldn't get it to work. Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I'm a real novice with this whole process although have been using DVD Decrypter and shrink for almost 8 months because they were simple to use and free.

Seems like you already tried AnyDVD. There is a good chance you installed something on your PC that is causing a conflict.

Make sure you have no adware an such and uninstall and clean out any software you do not need. Then try DVDFab again or AnyDVD.

If you are up to the challenge, try out Stealth using a Guide I posted:

This shows how to manually get rid of the ARccOS protection, so it is a bit hard to follow. I should be updating it within a week though and possibly replacing IFOEdit with PGC Edit.

Bought AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 and still crashed when ran CloneDVD2 with AnyDVD in background. Really frustrating. Get message "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" or "Page fault in nonpaged area". From looking around many Forums I think has to do with driver issues (.dll?) but I'm not that technically aware to know what to do. I'm a RN (male) and can speak intelligently about medical issues but not with computer stuff. I liked DVD Decryter and DVD Shrink for their simplicity. Always like the addage KISS, keep it simple stupid! Any other suggestions would be well recieved. Have a request into SlySoft for their help but don't know how long before I get a reply.
I also tried using AnyDVD with DVD Shrink and got another error message but at least not a computer crash when trying to save as an iso image. Like to burn from iso as I think more stable.

Problems are either with a defective DVD-RW drive or drivers. Even though the blue screen errors would say "drivers", it doesnt exactly mean that its the files. Bad drives can cause the files to be corrupt or not installed correctly.

Thanks fisch79! Looks like was a failure of my Samsung DVDCDRW drive that came with my Dell. I was using it to read the DVDs to ripp and then burn on TDK external drive. Using a TDK 880N external drive and appears that AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 working. Will update as to how it goes.

no problem! its funny, I have a samsung cd-rw/dvd combo drive as well.. I've used it on 400+ dvds. Seems that the drive is starting to fall apart. It seems that the samsung brand is the typical 1 or 2 year drive.

EUREKA! Backed up Madagascar and to back up Stealth. It was the DVD drive and not a software issue. As far as the Samsung, I'm treating myself to a new double layer DVD burner for Christmas, if my hints fall on deaf ears. Getting double layer in anticipation of when the discs are as reasonable as the DVD+/-R are now. Researching which one I might get now. Would like one that can at least read DVD-RAM discs as I own a Panasonic DVD recorder and would like to be able to view programs on my computer without having to burn a disc. Not a deal killer though. Lots of opinions on the forum so have to see what fits in budget. Haven't decided if I want an internal or USB external yet.
Got to crash as I have appts all day tomorrow and a long day. Have to TCB (take care of bidness)

Thanks. I buy my blank discs and slim jewel cases from Shop4Tech. Saw the burner you mentioned and it is on my "wish list". As far as the discs are concerned I used to get the "Sonic DVD-R 8X 4.7GB (No Stacking Ring) White Inkjet Printable by Shop4Tech". They were inexpensive and great until the last order. They were made by Taiyo Yuden and have changed to Optodisc and are garbage. Don't burn at 8X and 10 coasters out of first 50 of 100 discs. I guess I will order the branded Taiyo Yuden although they are more expensive. Still @ about 36 cents apiece not to hard to take. I still remember when CDs were $1.25 apiece.

I use the Sonic DVD+R 4x from Shop4Tech and they have been really good! I don't burn above 4x on any of the media because of problems occuring. Using Sonic DVD+R at 4x, I've never had a single coaster caused by bad media. I have gotten a coaster or two, but it was due to software problems. That DVD burner is going to be my next one as well. You can see the NEC I currently use in my sig below. It's never failed me, so I will keep it even when I upgrade!

Never understood the rationale behind burning slower as info from some sites I've visited before I burned my first DVD indicated didn't matter. If had 8X discs didn't make a lot of difference burned at 4X or 8X other than how fast got done. I'm an impatient type and until got AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 decrypting with DVD Decypter and then shrinking to an .iso file before burning took awhile and wanted to finish the process as fast as possible. All I can say is that out of over 300 of the Sonic 8X manufatured by Taiyo Yuden never failed to burn at 8X without an issue. OK the difference in 4X and 8X is about 7-8 minutes so may get the 4X as long as price is right and manufactured by Taiyo Yuden or another reliable manufacturer. Someone on another forum said that many name brands such as Memorex, TDK etc were actually manufactured by some other company like Taiyo Yuden with their brand stamp. That is why I got a DVD identifier to research this when all of a sudden the Sonic discs that were so reliable stopped being so. Also the DVD- and DVD+ thing still mystfies me even after I look at the "primer" ON AfterDawn and elsewhere. I just know the discs I got worked. Backed up a few of a friends movies who gave me some branded DVD+ discs and didn't notice anything different as far as playability so still a mystery to me. I guess if I hang around the forum long enough I may figure it out. Everyone is so helpful and for the most part pleasant. Thanks for the info and I'll look closly at the NEC before making up my mind.

Really no big secret. Burning slower provides greater stability during the process, however if you're having success at a faster speed, by all means continue. DVD-R vs DVD+R: The main difference between the two is not that one offers better quality than the other (although that statement has been argued vigorously), it's that -R is most compatible with the older DVD Players that initially came out but doesn't do so well on the newer models. (Unless it's a multi-format player) +R is the compatible format for the newer players but but doesn't do well in older players. The debate rages on...That's why some of the big movie, music, software, hardware corporations are trying to push for one format. The current fight is over Blu-Ray DVD and HD-DVD. This is the old Betamax vs VHS. The problem with that is that many of the corporations don't want a uniform format for many reasons. My belief is the main reason is like the old saying, "If I reach in my pocket and can feel your hand, there's too many people in my pocket"! Yep! You better believe it boils down to profit and how much of it can I get. Of course, they'll make it sound like security and piracy issues or other technical issues, but it's money driven. Besides, Betamax was better than VHS but was too expensive and it looks like (from what I've read) Blu-Ray will be the next Betamax and HD-DVD will be the next "VHS", not because Blu-Ray is better but because HD-DVD will be just as versatile for less money. Anyway, companies and consumers are already choosing sides. Personally, I don't care. It just better work for the money I pay and I better not lose my ability to back up my movies. If that stops, I'll stick with what we have now. Of course, all of this is years down the road, but it makes for great conversation if you're in to this kind of thing. Holla!!
