After ripping about a hunderd DVD's (no kidding, it's fun!) I have come across a problem that I can't solve...

I have ripped the .VOB files with Smartripper but I can't extract the sound to a .wav file. This is what I got in the Smartripper log:

Stream[001] X=[[0xE0] Video NTSC 720x480] [PTS 0:03:50] [Delay 0 ms] [@1] []
Stream[002] X=[[0xC0] Audio Not Specified MPEG1(2Ch) 48kHz 16bit ] [PTS 0:03:50] [Delay 0 ms] [@30] []
Stream[003] X=[[0x20] Subtitle Not Specified ] [PTS 16:28:30] [Delay 59080 ms] [@23815] []
Stream[004] X=[[0x??] Others] [] [] [] []

The sound seems to be in MPEG2 format, but how can I extract this...DVDtoAVI doesn't do the job!

HEEEEEELP ME!!!

Make sure that under the "audio" menu "TRACK 1" is selected, and also check that under "output menu" "Decode" is selected.

You want to do a Simple Demultiplex (demux) which is in the audio menu of DVD2AVI.

Just make sure you have ripped all the streams with SmartRipper and that you also select the correct track, as Peetis suggested.

I'm sure that I have the right track number, because that's the first thing I tried. There is only one audio stream, but instead of AC3 it is MPEG1 (see above)...

I have tried the demux method and now I have got a .mpa file. Is this a .mp3 file? How can I process it? Rename it to *.mp3 first???

Hmmm, seems that mpa is the same as mp2. Tried to rename the extentions of the file and it seems to work now...convered it with CDex to riff-wav and it's done!

Thanx!!!

I Recall having the same thing when I did "Sleepless in Seattle" for my X, the Audio Track is already MPEG, it's not even an AC3 track, just regular Pro-Logic sound.

However, you don't need to re-encode or unpack it, you can just encode your video and then Multiplex it with the Audio.
