I've been reading different forums on this issue and everybody has 3 or 4 different ways. Is there an easy way to have a perfect copy of this movie and how can I download vobblanker?
My error message is DVD shrink encountered an error and cannot continue
Invalid data file C:\Madagascar\Video_Ts\Vts_08_1.vob

You can use Clone if you want but you can use Shrink or something else if you prefer

I had the same problem last night with DVD Shrink. I read the replies and was advised to try AnyDVD and DVDFab Decrypter. I did so and restarted the computer. I then gave DVD Shrink/DVD Decrypter one more shot and it worked. Why did it work the second time? Divine intervention?
Does AnyDVD work automatically?

If you have not unchecked the autostart option in AnyDVD it will automatically start with your computer. Just look to see if the little red fox is in your tray then you will know if AnyDVD is running.

Thank you very much for the IFOs! They were most interesting. Here is, what I've found:
1.) "Madagascar" is copy protected with some sort of "bad sector" protection.
2.) The protection looks very different from what we have seen from Sony. I believe, that it is NOT Arccos!
3.) As "Madagascar" is a Universal release, and because Universal and Macrovision are - according to their press releases - "good friends", I believe that this is the very first confirmed DVD which contains.... (drumroll): MacroVision's "RipGuard"!!! (this is just a guess, of course)
The protection the whole community was soooo afraid of! The end of DVD duplication!
4.) I ran the ifos through our deprotection engine, and it found and removed the protection at the beginning of VTS_08_1.VOB.
5.) I have looked through the ifos, but I couldn't find anything else.
My conclusion:
1.) Madagascar R1 (US) is protected with Macrovision "RipGuard". Finally we see a disc with this new protection!
2.) AnyDVD 5.5.3.1 and 5.5.4.1 (maybe even older versions) should identify the disc as "Arccos/Puppetlock" protected and should display the removal of (at least) 1 bad sector protection.
3.) I believe, that AnyDVD has cracked the new "RipGuard" before it was even released. But it might be possible, that there is something else on this disc, which I cannot spot when looking through the ifos. It is hard to find something, when you don't know what you are looking for.
I have ordered the DVD to try it out myself, but it can take a few weeks until I can tell you more. I will keep you informed.

I used DVD Fab Decrypter last night for the Movie Madagascar. It copied all the files to my HD, I tried using DVD Shrink after that by means of DVD Decrypter, and followed the instructions.
In DVD Shrink, under compression when I went to go look for the Movie file, none of the headings with TITLE were bigger than 535MB.
Are there any suggestions for this situation. Anyway that DVD Shrink and or DVD Decrypter will be updated to handle this kinda of protection?

They have released a new version of DVDFab Decrypter. It fixes the "Madagascar" issue. This is taken from the change log in DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.5.8:
Quote: "2.9.5.8 (11/18/2005)
- Change: Added support for a new protection as found on "Madagascar" (US).
It's not a Sony movie, but the protection is almost same with Sony ARccOS."
Make sure you uninstall your current version of DVDFab Decrypter before you install this version!!
You can get it here: DVDIdle.com/free.htm" class="korostus" target="_blank">http://www.DVDIdle.com/free.htm

i did Madagascar effortlessly last night with DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.0 (free) then Shrunk with DVD Shrink as normal. what i did do was use my dvd-rom/cd-write combo drive (like io do for most of my ripping); didn't try to rip it on any of my dvd burners as i'd done the movie already but it's always nice to have a couple of optical drives..as if a movie won't play ball on one drive you always have a choice of drives to use..
