Great deals on media after Thanksgiving in USA?

There will be some great sales coming up in the USA on November 25 (the day after Thanksgiving, which is known as Black Friday).
Anyway, I have come across a website (www.theblackfriday.com) which lists all of the sales in advance.
Of particular interest to us is the media.
Staples will have doorbuster sales as follows:
Playo 50 pk DVD+R (Item # 618583) $2.94 after rebate
Playo 50 pk DVD-R (Item # 618584) $2.94 after rebate
Are these junk? Even if they are, they are dirt cheap, huh?
Also OfficeMax will be having the following sale:
DVD+R 100 pack Blank Media Spindle for $11.99 after rebate
DVD-R 100 pack Blank Media Spindle for $11.99 after rebate
Sorry, but I don?t have any more details as to the media.
Anyone work at these stores? Any tips?
Sometimes the prices are too good to pass up, but are they worth waking up early and waiting in line for?

I frequent staples quite a bit and haven't even heard of playo. Last thanksgiving was the teon 20 pack cmags with a rebate.
Cmags aren't very good,but there's a whole lot of other manufacturers out there that are worse!
If you want to wake up early just for them,just make sure you burn them very slow and at a reduced backup target.Also don't put anything important on them. Some burners and players will have issues with them if they are of low quality.For a few bucks,I may even grab a spindle just to pow around with them and see who made them.
I love the day after thanksgiving sales.Staples had a awesome one last year.
Edit: Staples will have the maxtor 200 gb internal hd for under $30 after rebate!!! I will have to check on that deal.

See the reason there are sales after holidays is because the retailers need to unload a bunch of crap that didn't sell over the holiday season. You don't get any media sales after the holidays because whose ever heard of getting someone a 50 pack of TYs for christmas. It's just not something you do. They don't have a sale for it during the holiday season and so b/c of that they won't have sales for it after the holiday.

I was in Staples last night and they were just stocking the playo.They must be taking the place of the Teon at Staples.The package all said made in China for both plus and minus.The price was $34.99:)

GlueEater- I would like to recieve a 50pk. of Taiyo Yudens for Xmas 8X DVD-R hell I've been a good boy Santa make it A 100Pk each of the DVD+R's & DVD-R's FUJI MIJ"S 8 X please! and while your at it Santa Sir load in a BENQ DW 1640 Black bezel DVD burner !I mean bieng I been so good and all !and if you 'll do that fer 'me Santa I'll make sure to leave you some cheese by the tree this year instead of milk and cookies! Chinese playo? I'm sure they'll be top notch-cough/cough!
$35 retail for that crap,what a load of crap! I've got to go to staples in a short bit,so I'll check them out.
I'm sure we'll see many posts about those playo discs in about a week!

GlueEater, about DVD media sales in local stores, the reason B&M stores have them is to lure shoppers into their stores. Much in the same way your supermarket sells some things at-cost just to get people to visit. Hopefully, it gets people to buy higher-margin items like TVs and PCs.

I'd take the maxell plus format any day. Hitachi on the japanese and Ritek on the taiwanese.For $5,they are probably riteks,but still very good quality media.
It's the dash that you have to be cautious of.Reports of cmags are emerging on the taiwanese dash format.For the dash,look for the japanese spindles.They are made by Hitachi.

I swung by my local Staples and they did NOT have Playo. In fact the clerk had never heard of them (big surprise).
I will still buy some, because even if they have a high error rate, as long as it isn't too high (to waste my time) then it is just too good to pass up.
Yes, it goes without saying that nothing good will be burned on these dvds, as I will use my TY's for my movies.

Good luck getting that Office Depot ad confirmed. I revisited the websites that post those ads, and it appears that Office Depot is making a big stink about having their ad posted early, so the ad was pulled down by the website.
I don't think anyone will be abkle to confirm this before Nov 24. However, if someone can, please post, because I would rather buy those discs than some no-name Playos.
