Please help, trouble getting logitech wheel to work in gt4

Do you have to set it up or what, i have the logitech driving force wheel, i have gone under options and controls, i cannot find anyplace where you specify which controller you want to use, the only place the controls on my wheel works is under the options menu, once i leave the options menu it stops working, i just got this wheel and would very much like to try it out, has anybody got this wheel and made it work, please let me know how you did it. Thanks

i think i got it figured out, i was plugging it into the 2nd usb slot instead of the first
