I used DVD Decrypter.
Mode/ISO/Read
(Silent Hill 2)
It read Disc and copied it to my HDD, then I put in my blank DVD-R, let the Decrypter acknowledge it, then I went to:
Mode/ISO/Write
Later, it came up with a warning and error:
W 23:10:50 Retry Failed! - Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format
E 23:10:51 Failed to Write Sectors 1664 - 1695 - Cannot Write Medium - Incompatible Format
E 23:10:51 Failed to Write Image!
E 23:10:51 Operation Failed! - Duration: 00:08:51
How was the DVD I was using an incompatible format?? It's a DVD-R!!
Can someone help?

try burning the game again.but select test write .you can do that with dvd-r but not with dvd+r.and if any errors occur then post the log here.there isnt enough information to come to a conclusion.
what speed did you burn at?
what is your dvdrw model?
have you had successful burns before?
decrypter should give you a more detaied log.and test write wont burn to the disc it just simulates the burn process.so you dont waste discs.

The DVD's I'm using burn at a max speed of 4X, which, I have the Decryptor set to write at the Max speed. I just re-read the game, here's the quest log thus far:

Tried writing in Test Mode using Decypter after re-reading the DVD. Here's the log:

dont select max burn speed.select the lowest speed possible and do a test burn again.when select max it means the max your drive can burn.unless the max burn speed of your drive is 4x then you are not burning at 4x.

Oh, and the 'Princo' DVD-R's I'm using, are some I found in Iraq while serving over-seas. Purchased them from a vendor. I've never heard of them before, so they're most likely pretty cheap.
Is that why it calls it an incompatible format? The DVD I'm using isn't good enough or something?
I just thought about it (I read the sticky topic about the "1st Class" DVD's), so I wasn't sure.

Dang...
Same results. I set it to write at 1X speed, and it still says incompatible format... Different sectors now though:

I'll do another test at 2X, unless you have a better idea...

they may be low grade discs but there shouldnt be any reason why they shouldnt work.especially what you are encountering.the supported disc speeds for this disc is 2x,4x.so try to test burn at 2x.you may also want to upgrade your firmware in an attempt to get your drive to copy to a wider range of dvdrs better.your drive has preferences to certain media.most drives do.i have a sony dvdrw that is a different model than yours.and i havent had any brands i used not work but by far the ones that worked the best in my drive was sony dvdrs.big surpise.so im guessing sony dvdrs will work just as good on yours.but since you have the disc you might as well use them up.

No luck... Sucks to be me.
I'll use the discs to backup some movies probably. I'll buy a pack of Sony DVD-R's Thursday or something. If it don't work with those, then I dunno...
Thanks for all the help though. Oh! One last question, I just read on a post that DNAS patching didin't matter if you don't play the game online? That true? I don't need to patch if I don't go online with the game?

after 2x if it doesnt work then i would suggest one last ditch effort and upgrade or reinstall your dvdrw firmware.its a little risky to install firmware but if you get the firmware from sony there should be no problem.you flash the drive kinda like you would flash your comp bios to upgrade it.i upgraded my firmware with no problem and afterward i noticed an improvement in reading and writing to dvdr.

you need a dna code to go online.so no you dont mess with dnas codes unless you want to play your backup online.
sony dvdrs would be a good choice but upgrading your firmware might be a good thing to do anyway.if you get the sonys and they work then you could leave it at that.if they dont work then id say definitely upgrade your firmware.but remember to get your firmware from the manufactuer web site.secondhand firmware is to risky if you dont know what you are doing.the manufactuers firmware comes with an installer program and directions.
