I posted this thread a couple months ago http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/237633 in which i shared my problem of glitches and everything turning into green squares and freezups.
I've had ok luck but haven't been able to watch every movie i've copied so i'm not entirely sure how great of luck i really did have. But today i think i may have discovered something. I copied then immediately watched a movie and at a specific part there was a glitch and then about ten seconds later everything turned into the green squares. I still had the movie on my hard drive so i recopied it and when i played the new one it did the exact same thing. So then i watched the video files right off my hard drive and the glitch was there but the movie didn't turn green. So next i watched the burned dvd on the computer and it did the same as the file, glitch but didn't turn green.
In my "studies" i've noticed only people who watch burned movies on PS2's get the green thing. But I've watched a bunch of movies that my brother copied on his computer and never had a problem with any of them.
So what i'm guessing is that my problem is in the copy or compression of the movie. Does that sound right or wrong to anyone? Let me know what you think and if you know how to fix it.

Well I took a look at your other posts and most of what was checked before is right. Your copy will only be as good as the original. If there are glitches in the HD playback then you can be sure there will be glitches in the copy. Yes too much compression will cause playback problems as will poor quality blank media. Lately we are seeing so called glitches on original dvds at the layer break on dual layer discs. When playing the original purchased dvd you might see a freeze up about 5 to 10 seconds right in the middle of playback. I take this as a quality control error during manufacturing. So if you hit one of these glitches on the original while ripping to your HD it will be on the copies also. You seem to have done your homework well so I can't advise you on anything else that you are doing wrong. Just make sure your blank media are the best ones you can get your hands on. Good luck.

Jerry
