Playing backups off of HD without Modchip?

I have a Duo 2SE mod chip in my PS2 and a HD. Recently my mod chip has been acting up and was thinking of taking it out. My question is if i load my backup iso's onto my HD with my PC and WinHIIP and use a "real" copy of HD advance or HDLoader to play the games off of my HD would i even need a modchip. Thanks

No you would not need a modchip. What you have outlined would work perfectly if i'm not mistaken.
