Is it poss. to rip a dvd and save it as a winzip file for more room or is it best to just buy a new drive with more GB

When ripping a DVD (with smart ripper) it automatically creates VOB files which are commonly about 5-6gb in size, you will then nedd to encode these which takes up another 1.5 gb and then convert to mpg which is another 1-2 gb so there is no option to zip it up. ie bigger hard drive needed.
