I'm not sure if a long time is a month or like a few years so...

I guess in a nutshell, Shrink and Decrypter are not longer updated. AnyDVD and DVDFab are and will handle the new encyption (Bewitched, Lords of Dogtown, Madagascar, etc...)

Nero still rocks, and that about it! =)

@skoalmint, I'm not going to bore you with the vast list of progs but one that it seems everyone enjoys is CloneDVD 2, and along with AnyDVD it's a great combo from www.slysoft.com again if you want free progs then stick with Shrink, DVD Decrypter (yes, tehy are no longer updated but still work pretty effectively.) After learning to set up Dvd Rebuilder it is probably one of the best for qulaity...just takes longer, but if quality is important then that is an option..there is a free Dvd Rebuilder and the available Encoders that come with the Installer are awe-some, better than many one clicks.

Thats a loaded question. Probably the fav as far as speed, quality, and features is AnyDVD and clonedvd2. Intervideo dvdcopy4 is faster and produces quality similiar to clonedvd2, maybe a hair better, but is very limited in features and is problematic on some users setup. Dvd-rebuilder used with cinema craft encoder or hc encoder by hanks is far superior in video quality but is slower and doesn't offer as many features as it's strictly used as an encoder not an editor. For editing I recommend dvdremake. Here is how I rate em.

Dvd-rb/cce
Dvdcopy4 (I only have copy3)
Clonedvd2
Nero recode2
Dvd shrink

For ripping I prefer DVD Decrypter with AnyDVD running in the background.

Dvd shrink and Nero still do the job for me on 90% of the original movies. Now on some of the newer ones, you'll need AnyDVD on the other 5%. And the other 5% are new sony releases like lords of dogtown and bewitched:You'll need dvdfab decrypter or dvdfab decrypter express along with AnyDVD.

Fastest way for me is dvd shrink/sometimes activating AnyDVD in the background/and auto burn with Nero.

Way to go Bucks!!!!!!

Nero Recode2 or Shrink using deep analysis and AEC/ fabdecrypter or anydvd running in the background/ IMGBurn to burn/main movie only mode= perfect.

in terms of quality dvd rebuilder with a decent encoder such as procoder, hc enc or cce wins hands down!

of course this will take its time - but i want to enjoy a movie for some 90+ minutes and dont want to get annoyed by all the flaws and imperfections that meet my eyes so let the encoder take its time

for transcoders i'd clearly vote for DVDSHRINK

i have used starwars3 to compare dvd2one version2, dvdshrink, clonedvd, rejig and an ENCODER (procoder via dvd rebuilder) and the results are more than obvious

see for yourself:
