Is it at all possible to hook up a regular DVD Player (Panasonic or Emerson) to a Dell Dimension 3000? I'm just wondering what would be easier/cheaper. Buy a DVD Drive for my PC, or figure out a way to connect the DVD player. I'd like to know what hardware I would need also.

Thanks in advance

I'm pretty sure it doesn't. Nothing happens when I put a DVD in. The computer sometimes freezes when I put one in also.

Although this may be unrelated, I didn't feel like making a new thread. When I am installing the DVD, do take out my original CD drive , and replace it with the DVD. Or do I just put it in the slot below the original CD drive, and end up having two? Oh yeah i decided to buy the one DVD drive from newegg. Does it come with the necessary plugs, or are the plugs already inside the PC? Thanks a lot for your help. I'd probably figure most of this out as I go along, but I'd like to know ahead of time ;).

Edit:

What is the difference between these two?

After reading some of the reviews, I'm not sure if Sony is the way to go. What do you think?

the first one listed is just a cd/dvd-rom reader (which will play your dvds) the second one is a cd/dvd-rom reader and cd burner (not a dvd burner) but agian will play your dvds .so if you dont need a dvd burner get the second one and put it in the empty space below the drive you have. it should have the plugs with it yes

as far as sony with theses drives you listed they are fine ,if you decide you want a dvd burner i would go with Plextor,BenQ,LG or Liteon
