Not so much..Once you downgrade to 1.5-you would then install(or upgrade) to a custom firmware such as 3.40OE-A or the 3.52M33 which allows you to play PSX games..So once you get to 1.50fw, post back and I can help you with the custom firmware...

Ok-heres what you do...after you download the two files (271-82dg, and the 163_eboot_1.50) take all the files that are in the 271-82dg folder and copy them to the root of your memory stick...Then with the 163_eboot_1.50, you need to rename that EBOOT.PBP to UPDATE.PBP-then after you rename it, copy the renamed file over to this location on your memory stick: PSP/GAME/UPDATE

The reason for renaming that file is because there is already a EBOOT.PBP in the PSP/GAME/UPDATE folder, and you need both files for it to operate...thats why you are not getting the XYZ update..

Now it should work for you...

No, not 2.60...
Your PSP is running 2.71 firmware right now, correct? You need to run the downgrader for 2.71...Check your firmware version-do this by going into the Settings menu>system settings>system information..what is your system software currently? It needs to be 2.71 before you start anything...You wouldn't be downgrading from 2.60 if you already updated your firmware to 2.71

If you already updated to 2.71...You can now format your memory stick because you dont need that other 2.60-2.71 eboot anymore...SO format your memory stick, and then copy those files to your memory stick like I showed you a few posts up, and let me know how that goes...

Thank you-and congratulations on your great success!

I would recommend upgrading to 3.40OE-A (I personally have two psp's running that firmware)-the reason for that is its the most recent custom firmware that is the most stable...and second, you wont really be able to play anything from 1.50 unless you use a program called devhook to play the iso games, and thats a real pain in the neck as its an old program, and its complicated to use..

The reason for the hype of having your psp downgraded to version 1.50 is because thats the version the developers found that you could run unassigned code on it and enabling the psp to be hacked-which is why its necessary to downgrade as you did allowing your psp to be "unlocked" and opening up its full potential...But, if you were to just stay on 1.50 firmware-you will find out quick its very boring, and there are hardly any options (no internet browser, no themes-very plain!) and if you tried to play any newer umd games, it would require you to update your firmware anyway...I wont get into the whole history of the evolution of psp hacking..

I think your best bet is, now that you downgraded, is to go with that 3.40OE...First format your memory stick while you are still running 1.50 to erase the downgrader files from yesterday, then use this 3.40OE easy winstaller to install the files to your psp-its an automated program that runs from your computer and puts the files where they need to go, all you need to do is hook up your psp to the computer, and run the program, then when its done run the upgrader from the game icon in your psp menu...very easy..

Once you get the hang of the new firmware, and with a little practice-you can do stuff like this...

Customizing your menu with cool themes

....

You dont need the lumines game anymore if you are at 1.5. Just follow dEEz_nUtz instructions and you wont go wrong.

psplife: Ceramic White 2.71 TA-082> 1.5> 3.03OE-C> installed custom themes> semibricked on the 3rd try> 1.5> 3.30OE-A> 3.10OE-A'> 3.03OE-C> 3.40 OE-A> 3.52 M33 > 3.52 M33 update 4 > 3.71M33 > 3.71M33-3

Not a problem...yeah, I like to play around with different themes, and mix them up a little bit..Those are the ones I currently have on my psp at the moment...As far as the Lumines game, you dont need that, you already downgraded your psp...You just need to use that 3.40OE winstaller I posted earlier, and you're all set...

Well congratulations on your great success!!
Yeah, thats for people who upgrade from an earlier version of custom firmware..That doesnt apply to you... Now that you have the golden firmware, you should format your memory stick once again so it clears the updater files off of your memory stick, and it will also create the proper file directory like I posted a while back in this thread with the ISO folder and whatnot...Then you can go ahead and load it up with games...

One more thing to mention with the iso games...You will find that it is easier to just keep a UMD game inserted in the slot all the time...I am going to have you change some settings on your psp so you dont run into trouble later with your downloaded games and such...

First, turn your psp off completely-(hold power switch up for about 5 seconds)
Then while turning the psp back on, hold down the R trigger button-this is going to boot your psp up into whats called "recovery mode"
You should be presented with a blue or a black screen that has a menu..
Using your directional pad scroll down to "configuration" and select that using the X button
From there, scroll down to "Use NO-UMD" and make sure its set to "currently disabled"
select "back" it will bring you to the main menu..
Now scroll to "advanced"-select that-then scroll to "advanced configuration"-select that-make sure all three options in that menu are set to "currently disabled"-select "back" two times to bring you to the main menu-scroll to "exit"-your psp will restart saving the settings...
I wouldnt mess with the other options in the recovery console until you become more familiar with the psp some...That recovery console allows access to the internal psp memory (not the memory stick)-so it can be dangerous if you are not sure of what you are doing, and can render your psp unusable (brick)....

Have a look at psp-hacks.com or pspupdates.qj.net for emulators and other homebrew games, and apps..make sure you follow the directions carefully..When you are ready to modify your XMB (psp menu) send me a PM, I'll walk you through the steps...This forum is more for the downgrading of psp's...

Well it looks like my TA is bricked with this!! All went well up to when I pressed "X" to reboot. I didn't get the BSOD. Instead I got nothing but a black screen and the power LED light won't go off. Am I totally screwed??!!!

@PacYAO-PM=Private Message-Just click on the little person with the arrow going through it on the top right of this message....

@garanthor-Have you restarted your psp manually? I think you are supposed to shut it off after the downgrade and turn it back on..If your psp is still on and you just have a dark screen...Try pressing the brightness button at the bottom (its the one next to the musical note button)...I dont know what downgrader you used, or which firmware you were downgrading from-as you did not specify..But try the brightness button anyway-I doubt you would have bricked if you followed the instructions..

When i run the id/storagechange file i get a message saying "the game could not be started (80020148)" then in the game menu i get a file called Update x.yz rather than the x.yx. I have done it correctly? is this the file i am meant to run next?

I dont think you would be able to run the idstorage_change anyway..Are you using the guide and the files found here?? Scroll down to the section that says "2.71 PSP (TA-82 or TA-86)" and click the "show" button...You have to run the 1.5 enabler before the XYZ update..

No, I posted a link on my last post...where it says: "found here??" click the "here" it will link you to a different guide-use that one instead..Just scroll down to the part that says: 2.71 PSP (TA-82 or TA-86)-it will have a guide, and the files you need...
I am not too familiar with the one they used at the beginning of this thread...
