When you burned it, did you burn it to playback in a dvd player or your computer?? is there a folder called mpegav and if there is, then avseq01.dat is the movie
If there are no files/folders, are you sure that you didnt simulate??

I would recommend using nero and not easy cd creator anyway. Are you sure your dvd player is cd-r compatible?

Well, it's quite easy! - but I can give you a step-by-step guide! (Nero Buring Rom) When you start Nero up there comes a wizard (only the first time, if you chose to chose wizard you won't see it again, unless you are calling it up) - select close wizard... now a new box comes up, named New Complication. In the left there is some names, CD-Rom(Iso), Audio CD etc., chose VideoCD. Are you from America or Japan, pick NTSC at the encoding solution. Do you live in Australia, Europe or someone else than America or Japan, chose PAL. Now do you want a menu? - if you will you can go up in the box, then you see loads of names, the first is: Video CD, the second is: Menu, chose Menu. Click on Enable menu, and then select the options you want. After that chose burn, in the top menu again, and for a good advice pick 4x (600KB/s) because what I have read, some players can't play example 10x or something. After that you can click on the big button to the right, New. Now in the file browser to the right you can pull the file you want (.mpg) over on the other side. - After that find the little button in the top where there stands "opens the write dialog" click on that afterwards click on write.

That is what I have been doing, but when it starts to burn at 4x it stops and says it is burning at 0kb. When I try at 8x it appears to write but all I get are those folders and the mpegav has nothing in it and some of the others have things that I can not open.

That is the vcd, it should playback if your dvdplayer is vcd/cd-r compatible!

I know for a fact that my player is vcd/cd-r compatible, because I have played svcd's in there that a friend had. When I open those folders shouldn't there be something that resembles a movie?

might I have a bad copt of Nero? I downloaded it off the web. What seem to happen is the mpeg files don't sem to go to the burner. I called my friend and asked her to put that svcd in her computer and check to see what was on it, she said there were four files Ext has Scandata data file, Segmant is empty, Mpeg2 has AVSEQ01.mpg movie file with windows media player icon, SVCD has 6 files entries, Lot SVCD, search dat file, info.SVD,PSO.SVD and Trakcs.SVD. When I try to burn I don't get things like that. Do you have any other ideas?
Please help!

So do you have any other ideas as to what I could be doing wrong? Could you email me the process you go through or give me something to try? I really appreciate all the time you have given me. Again I ask could I have a bad copy of nero. Or am I missing something?

I tried to make a vcd with mpg files and I got the 4 folders expect that when I open Segment, there is nothing in it. Also When I open the E:\ folder where the video is it says I've used 2,16 mb and there is a 400+ file in there. I used Nero to burn the file. I don't know if I had to reencode the file but was never asked to, could that have been the error? Can't open the 400+ file which is there in mpgav-file as a read-only.
Thanks for the help.

Can I use ZingMPEG Encoder to encode the mpg file to vcdMPG? How is that done? Also I'm able to see the video I made with Nero (mpg) with Windows media player. BTW why is it bad to use Nero to encode although Nero didn't prompt me to encode.
I've been able to encode avi files to mpg's with TMPGEnc encoder, I need to encode them also after encoding them to mpg:s? I've also heard that you can make vcd:s of MPG files with TMPGEnc, how?
Also I'd like to make VCD:s in Ntsc format cause I think the frame is bigger than on PAL but I live in Europe. The DVD:s are able to play also Ntsc, can I make VCD:s in that format?

I can play NTSC vcd's on my stand alone dvd player but i cant play NTSC dvd's lol, so chances are it will work!!
When you encode with TMPGEnc, click load and go to the tmpgenc folder, open the template folder and load the videocd pal template and then encode it. Then you shouldn't have to encode again at all!
