I was wondering if someone could help me out with this? I have recently bought a Yamaha CinemaStation DVX-C300 home theater system. My problem is that I cannot seem to hook up my Playstation 2 to it. The audio cable that is connected to the video cable is much too short to connect to the receiver, because the av wire that connects to the playstation has a little box type of thing where the three wires stick out of. I know my PS2 has that optical audio outlet on it, but my surround sound receiver doesn't have that on it. It only has the red/white audio composite connectors, and it has a digital coaxial one. Am I out of luck or is there some possible way to hook up my PS2. Sorry so long. Any help is appreciated!!!!!

they do make a hi-def cable for the ps2 as well, i think it may be longer. but since your receiver does not have an optical (which by the way only carries sound, no video) you kinda screwed in that department. does your receiver have audio/video plugs in the front?
i understand you are probabbly trying to connect it to the receiver for louder sound, and if so your optical out from the ps2 would be good enough, but you dont have one on the receiver. your olny choice is really to run it direct to the tv. but look for that hi-def cable. there is an alternative, buy a video adapter (a union) for the video cable to make an extension. or buy an a/v splitter and just buy longer a/v cables. hope this helps you.
here is the union..

and here is a splitter box.. http://cgi.ebay.com/Key-Digital-Systems-COMPONENT-VIDEO-SPLITTER-...

its a bit much for what you are looking for, but you get the idea.
