Help!

This is actually my first post on afterdawn....I've been lurking for a while and I gotta say this is one of THE most useful forums on the internet...

anyway, I have a Japanese model PS2 (SCPH-50000) and just bought the HD ADVANCE 2.0 software for the Japanese build PS2's.

my problem is that I'm not sure the US version Network Adapter will work with my box. The hardware is most likely identical, but what I'm worried about is the load disc (driver) that Sony supplies with the NTSC-US adapter.

Will the US version work and install properly on my NTSC-J PS2?

The answer would probably be no.
I have both a European and American ps2, both with hd's and network cards, and at first,i tried to put a European network card on the American ps2, and it didn't work. So, you can probably draw your conclusions from that.

I would try it... If it doesn't work, just return it to the store you bought it from and said. "it doesn't work with the game you bought for your 5 year old cousin" or somthing like that. Just make sure that the store has a good return policy. No restocking fees or anything like that.

thanks for the help.

i'm planning to buy the network adapter ONLY to be able to use a HDD with HD Advance. I'm not into online gaming(with the PS2) so the network connectivity thing won't be an issue.

guess I should've been more specific...

i'm thinking the drivers included with the adapter are just for the network connectivity configuration, not the HDD?! or does the load disc/driver contain settings for HDD enabling?

anyone else have the network adapter just for the HDD or still have their instruction manual?

My answer was both for online connectivity AND the hdd's i'd used.. the hd also wouldn't work with (wrong) card on it.
then again, it might work for you, but if you want to be a 100% safe, get the right card for it.
