As a senior citizen and nubie please help me. Can I use Decrypter as Dvd Shrink to fit a movie into a single disk? I want to remove the crap and just have the main movie. I tried to back-up State of the Union in Shrink, but got an encoding error. The movie is too big for Decrypter. What can I do. Thank you.

DVDShrink and DVDdecrypter while fantastic programs sometime need the assistance of a new encryption breaker. I would suggest DVDFab decrypter (free) from http://www.filepedia.com (Look under rippers)
Rip XXX with that and then with shrink reauthor to main title and burn with decrypter. You should not have any problems.
I would also consider purchasing AnyDVD which is an encryption breaking driver that is absolutly top notch. Read the posts regarding it at this forum. You do have to purchase it after a 21 day free trial, but it is worth every penny.
Cheers.

Thanks for your quick reply. I have downloaded DVDFab and got the following error message while ripping XXX. An exception OE has occurred in VXD. The crash report indicated an error in DMP file.
This is as clear as mud to me. You have an idea? Maybe the DVD is bad. I could not back it up in Shrink either. I can watch it with no problems though.

Download the 21 day free trial of AnyDVD and let it run behind DVD Shrink. You should have no probs as 9mmruger suggested.

If you want an easy program that I started my brother with, he is 62yrs old, is DVDFab Express. If you're going to pay for something then get this one.... it's easy to use and it does a great job....... and it's free lifetime updates that correct all the newer movies. The video quality is great, too! I use it and it's fast and easy for movie only DVDs. But, I also use other programs.
It's been my experience that most of the movies out there can be ripped by DVDDecryter. I even ripped Madagascar with DVDD and then I used DVDRebuilder to just transcode the movie only. Then I burned using CopyToDVD and it's quality can't be beat! easy and fast and dont' understand why so many had trouble with this movie!? Anyway, I just thought that Alsanchez should know that DVDDecrypter should be able to rip the movie to the hard drive. Once on the hard drive Shrink should be able to transcode it to a smaller file to fit on a DVD-5 (single sided recordable DVD) then burn with your favorite burning software. Aabbccdd is absolutely right, also. Clone2 and AnyDVD are excellant together. Just follow BBmayo's guides link that Aabbccdd gave you in his reply and you'll soon graduate out of the Newbie status and understand more!

Thanks again guys for your responses. Remember nubies need to be held by the hands sometimes. IHOE, your response interested me because yes I was able to rip XXX to the hard drive, but I do not know how to transcode it to a smaller file to fit on a DVD-5 single disk using Shrink. Can you tell me how. Is there a newer version of AnyDVD? I tried the 21day trial, and had to remove it from my computer because it was always freezing and had me rebooting constantly.

A great guide from Mayo. He has taken a lot of time to explain in an easy to follow format. Can you explain what is transcoding. Is this when you have to use two different programs? Thanks again for all the help. I feel a little smarter.
