From PAL to NTSC possible?

I have a Region 2 DVD (PAL) I'd like to copy as a Region 1 DVD (NTSC). The dvd player hooked up to my TV doesn't handle PAL. While I can force it to play the Region 2 by making the dvd player region free and then forcing it to start from time of 0:00:01, it doesn't play smoothly, you can see it's rather choppy playback.

Is this even possible to do? To copy movies I've been using DVDFab Decrypter or DVD Decrypter, CloneDVD2, and then Avi2DVD.

/smacks self... I finally found a guide for doing exactly what I want. Will try and muddle it through and see how well it does. If you have any tips, feel free, always open to easier/better methods.

A simple way would be 1) rip the dvd to harddisk into a popular video format (e.g. AVI, mpeg) with e.g. ImToo DVD Ripper, 2) encode again with e.g. VSO (free version), and change from PAL to NTSC, 3) burn to dvd with e.g. Nero.

when you have the dvd movie use Nero to burn it and there is an option to change itfrom PAL to ntsc
