I was able to burn Skeleton Key with DVD 43 running then using DVD shrink to put the dvd on my computer. I have tried this method among others for Madagascar but still no luck. The only method that I have yet to use is anydvd then shrink. SO far every time I try Madagascar it messes up at 1.64 GB. Any other suggestions would be helpful

Haven't purchased Skeleton Key yet, however, Madagascar gave me a few problems. Burned with Any DVD and Clone DVD2. Played on one of our DVD players, but not on all. Finally had success using the following software in the following steps:
#1--DVDFab Express Free
#2--DVD Decrypter
#3--DVD Shrink
Maybe it will work for you. They are all free. And you can find them here.

What do you use DVD Decrypter for after the movie has been ripped with DVDFab?

Well I don't know... Obvious I'm a Newbie Huh? I downloaded a guide from: http://bbmayo.home.comcast.net/guides.htm
and just followed the instructions. The guide states you only have to set up DVD Decrypter once then there is no need to do it again. Since it worked I didn't ask questions.

You use DVDD last not second, right? The process should be rip to HDD with DVDFab, then transcode with DVD Shrink, and the finally burn with DVDD.

Yes, you're right LOCOENG. Burned with DVDD. Guide said to set-up DVDD before I went to shrink. Then after Shrink, I burned with DVDD. So I guess I should have said:
#1--DVDFab Decrypter (rip)
#2--DVD Decrypter (one time only set-up)
#3--DVD Shrink (transcoded)
#4--DVD Decrypter (to burn)
Hope I didn't mess you up brutus04.
Really enjoy "After Dawn" I learn so much. And wow do I have a lot to learn.
Thanks

Learning, yep we all do. I learn something new about every time I visit. Now if I could only asimilate the information...LOL...
I think it was LOCOENG or was it arniebear who let me know that if I had AnyDVD running in the background I could skip the decrypter rip and rip with shrink saving time. They were right. It saves me about 14 minutes of process time.
Great sources of information, both of them.
Cheers.

I'll take credit for that one. LOL
Although, I have taken a step back, and started ripping with DVDD again, because of the hacked firmware for my NEC drive. I just ripped a movie at 11X.

Anyone who says otherwise works for "Dreamworks"

I finally figured Madagascar out, I tried almost every method and it errored every time. Finally this is how it worked for me, I used DVDFab to put it on my computer, then I used Vobblanker and created another file then shrunk the new file. It went through without any problems. Thanks to all who responded. I am glad I found this message board b/c it always helps me out when I am stuck with a burning problem

i did the Skeleton Key with just DVD Shrink on it's lonesome last night..
as to Madagascar, i did that one effortlessly last night with DVDFab Decrypter 2.9.6.0 (free) then Shrunk with DVD Shrink as normal. what i did do was use my dvd-rom/cd-write combo drive (like io do for most of my ripping); didn't try to rip it on any of my dvd burners as i'd done the movie already but it's always nice to have a couple of optical drives..as if a movie won't play ball on one drive you always have a choice of drives to use..

"Madagascar" is a bit of an unusual case (although we will no doubt see some more of these types of discs). The DVD of Madagascar has now been confirmed to be the very first true DVD release to use Macrovision's "RipGuard" form of copy protection. To verify this, you can do a search over at Forbes Magazine's web site. Her is a link to the article:
http://www.forbes.com/personalfinance/philanthropy/2005/11/22/mac...
From the article:
"DreamWorks Animation (nyse: DWA - news - people ) is the first studio to implement RipGuard with the recently released DVD of 'Madagascar,' according to Piper."
As it turns out, though, it is just another slight variation on the same sort of copy protection scheme that has been used for the past 11 months by Sony (Sony / Columbia / Tristar discs). It is just another tweak or variation on the "ARccOS" form of copy protection. It employs some deliberate errors in the structure protection. Thus, most of the the same workarounds that work effectively on Sony ARccOS also can be employed on "Madagascar."
And, while it is a bit off-topic, Macrovision's stock fell a bit today, and this is probably mostly due to this article.
Hope this helps,
-Bruce
