Stuck in PIO mode

Can anyone out there help me with this? I have tried uninstalling the drivers, but current transfer mode still says PIO. Everything else says ultra mode if avail. Doesn't anyone have suggestions on how I can clear this problem up? HELP!!!

Make sure DMA is set to "On" in your BIOS.

Thanks jmet. I have no earthly idea what you are talking about. Like i would know what i BIOS is. I am a "newbie". Thanks anyway.

To get in your BIOS, you usually have to hit the "Delete" or "F11 or F12" key at the beginning of the boot up. Once your in there, be extremely careful though!! You can render your computer useless. Its really not that hard though.

How can I make my computer useless by trying this method. I don't want to jeopardize my computer function be trying this. Any other "safer" methods?
