Can someone please help me...I use roxio cd and dvd creator 6 for making dvds with the menus but for some reason it freezes right at the end of encoding (right before it burns) does anyone know what i should do, or know of another software where I can edit the menu for the DVD, have the video file encoded to work on a dvd player, and burn...I made a DVD for my gf for our one year anniversary Friday and of course this happens now! I appreciate any help

Thanks

Great Site!

aabbccdd, aka Alphabet, for what dmjoker is using the software, Nero is a low end entry level program suite.

He is making home brewed video productions, and Roxio is the most versatile suite in that price range.

Roxio is error prone in my opinion; my fix was to uninstall Roxio, clean the registry, and re-install Roxio. A PITA for sure, but it worked.

Here's what I did (backup/export you registry first):
1. Uninstalled Roxio from the control panel; it's not called Roxio there, it's "Easy CD DVD.........."
2. Deleted all normally viewable Roxio folders
3. Ran Regcleanr (Tools/Registry Cleaner/Do Them All) and removed all errors
4. Ran RegscrubXP and removed all errors
5. Rebooted
6. Repeated 3. and 4. above
7. Reinstalled Roxio accepting all defaults.
8. Confirmed in Device Manager that my IDE/ATAPI Controller was the standard dual channel and all drives were set to a DMA mode

Took about twenty minutes, but has worked for me on a couple of my computers for various Roxio problems. A third computer did require a complete Windows installation rebuild.

You might also want to check you Application and System event viewer for clues.

If you are using a round data cable to the optical drive(s), try an 18" flat one.....either 40 or 80 conductor.

Try the flat cable with only one optical drive attached as master at the cable end connection.

It's also a good idea to defrag your system hard drive and check it for errors.

Good luck

hi i found this fourn on the roxio site can some1 guide me on weather i shoul take their advice

Problem: After installing Easy Media Creator 8, you may be unable to read CD or DVD discs from optical drives on your computer.

Solution: This appears to be a conflict between a feature called RXFilter and certain anti-virus software.

RXFilter allows users to access data on compressed or encrypted disc sets directly from Windows Explorer instead of having to use Roxio Retrieve. By disabling RXFilter, you will need to use Roxio Retrieve to compressed or encrypted data discs created in Creator Classic.

If you are having a problem and need to disable RXFilter, use this utility:
http://tools.roxio.com/support/c8/rx/rxfix.exe

If you would like to re-enable RXFilter you may run this utility:
http://tools.roxio.com/support/c8/rx/rxenabler.exe

Once either of these utilities is run, you must reboot for changes to take effect.
