DVD+/- media..for photos? Does it matter if theyre CMAGS...?

i heard that to store like photos or something..regular cdrs lose their data over time. and that dvds dont. so i was wondering does it matter which dvd media u use? i know it matters for dvd movies..but how about just photos? thanks-

it will matter...
it doesnt matter what you put on it.. you dont want to use cheap media..
u're still using the same laser.. the disc will breakdown and stop playing..
nothing but TY's and Verbatims for me

@thelox714 - yeah..that's the one i use the most now. i have no energy to make new epic replies about bad media any more so just paste that one and refer ppl to the other 6 bad media links in my sig, does the job a lot easier now :)

i'll let you know in 100 years, i'll still be burning up a storm on my TY discs by then :)
(though i won't be as agile as the burner's speed i imagine)

Good quality CD-Rs with phthalocyanine dye (almost all CD-Rs except Taiyo Yuden and some Verbatim discs) will outlast any DVD disc because the construction of the disc is simpler and because the dye is far more stable than azo-cyanine and cyanine dyes. If you want something to last for a very long time, record it to CD-R. Stress tests on even the best DVDs are showing less than half the life expectancy of a CD-R disc.

with CD's i'll agree with you Joe, you can virtually use a cardboard spacer from a tub of CDR's and get good results, but with DVD's it's a whole different ballgame
