So.. I want to get a vhs to computer. I have a tv-videocard that has video in/output and s-video.. So is it possible if i record the video with a recording program with the vcr only put to output? And does the s-video have sound becouse vcrs audio cable doesnt fit to microphone input so do i have to buy a plug to that?

Yes you will need to Buy an adapter for the audio because S-Video only carries a Video signal and the audio has to be Captured Probably through your Sound Cards "Line In" or "Mic" Jack....

You should be able to Record from your VCR to your PC this way but if the VHS tape is a Retail VHS tape you might run into Macrovision Copy protection problems as Most retail VHS tapes are Copy protected, Unless you happen to have a TV Card that doesn"t have Macrovision detection built in then you won"t have to worry about it but that depends on the TV Card you have,,,,

most of them are self-recorded or in a video-camera so i dont need to worry about the Macrovision, but do you know the specific name for this plug that where u can put audio l and r to mic or only one at time, becouse the audio cables doesnt fit to mic jack... becouse im not buying this myself so i need to tell my friend the plugs name so he can buy it...

Are you asking what Program i recomend for Video capture??

Well For capture directly to Mpeg-2/DVD Format i usually use "InterVideo WinDVR v3.0" and it captures Pretty Good Quality but you need to have a pretty fast PC, Like at least 2.0ghz...

The Captured files Can Be authored directly to DVD without Haveing to Re-Encode the Files and it has a wide Variety of Capture settings so you can create your own Custom Capture profiles so the captured Files turn out to be Small enough to Put on a DVD....

For Mpeg-2 capture WinDVR 3.0 is Probably one of the best Pluss it also can capture the audio in dolby AC3 format which is the best format for DVD.....
