I followed this guide: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/gordian_knot_ac3.cfm

The sound is a lot quieter than expected. The movie I copied sounds normal, and the .VOB files play back at a normal volume. The DivX version plays significantly quieter, requiring me to turn all my volumes to the max, which makes things like IM chimes overly loud. I used the first AC3 track, which is a 6-channel dolby digital track, and this is a DivX5 codec.

Is there a way to solve this so I can reencode it?

The AC3 is the same AC3 from the original DVD. It is untouched as is the volume. Therefor the difference in volume must be due to how it is played back.

maybe I did something wrong during the encoding... because I played both the vob and the divx back to back on the xbox and the volume levels are different, but I think it uses the same player. Even if it doesn't I ran both the vob and divx on VLC on my computer and the volumes were different there, too.
