Media files on ps2 hdd!

I've just recently gotten a ps2 with an hdd mod, and i have no problem getting the games on there, but i'm just wondering if it's possible to get other files such as media files on the HDD drive.
Whenever i reconnect the hdd onto the pc, after i install the HDloader and media player with the ps2, the computer tries to format the damn thing.
My friend said that he could move files onto the HDD, and he would be able to watch the movies with the ps2 media player off of the HDD that's in his ps2.
All the programs i found are programs to get the ps2 images on to the hdd, but is there a way to get MEDIA files(avi, mpg, wmv, etc..) on the ps2 hdd?
any help will be grateful

you can use a program called "dms format tool". google for the iso and winhiip it to your drive. then run it in hdloader. alternativly, you could also try just creating an iso full of movies and music on your pc.
