I read on here that some get excellent quality using certain programs. Can not the quality you get only be as good as what you downloaded? I don't believe it can improve. The only thing is maybe different programs will encode better than others??Leaving a better finished quality movie...any expert comments please??

I am by no means an expert, but I would assume using a more efficient ('better') encoder will leave you with a better quality movie than using a sub-par encoder.

if the original is low quality then the burn will be low quality. i havent seen any apps that will correct low quality that is on the original disc or file. if ur talking about files u have downloaded i would try to get the larger files for better quality.

Ok thanks...now if you are downloading an AVI file or mpeg or mpg or ISO...is that better than a DVD RIP. Does not DVD Rip torrent mean that a person has bought the DVD movie and copied it fo backup (which would give the best quality) ???? Ed

Basically of the above extensions...which will give the best quality in order of best to worst...thanks for any advise. A person waits a long time to download so you want to get the best you can..

You are on the right track, DVDRip is as you say ripped from a DVD and the quality should be as good as original DVD, when downloading movies I always look for DVDRip.
