Trying to make a backup of the new Star Wars III and using the regular anydvd (latest update) and clonedvd2. The backup has a chapter looping thing going on. Can not get past the 20th century fox/Lucas film logo screen. Instead of going into the movie, it loops this part over again. Any attmpts to bypas this and go directly go another chapter does the same thing.

AnyDvd talks about removing a "chapter jump protection on this movie", however, I have the latest release, and no go. Any ideas?

Just use DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink. That's how I backed up my Episode III, and it worked 100% perfect.

Are you sure you are using the latest AnyDVD (5.5.5.1). There was an error in the earlier version that detected 'chapter jump' protection that wasn't really there. That is apparently why DVD Decrypter works on this movie. See change log below;

AnyDVD History

5.5.5.1, 2005 11 20

- Fix: With some discs (e.g., "Star Wars III") AnyDVD detected the
"Chapter Jump" protection, even if this protection was not present.
This could cause defective copies.

5.5.4.1, 2005 11 15

- New: Added detection and removal of a new type of protection
"Chapter Jump" as found on "Kleiner Koenig Kalle Wirsch" (German)
to the option to remove "Protection based on unreadable Sectors"
- New: Added display of "Chapter Jump" structural protection in
AnyDVD information window
- New: Added support for a new protection as found on
"Layer Cake" R2 (Dutch) to the option to remove
"Protection based on unreadable Sectors"
- New: As DVD43 could cause system instability if installed together
with AnyDVD, it can now be automatically uninstalled, as soon as
AnyDVD is started.
- Updated languages

Yep, afraid so. I checked, and double checked and I am definitely using the latest version. I installed it right after I received the email about this release (just days after the previous release too).

uninstall then restart computer then reinstall AnyDVD. It has helped me and many people with problems with AnyDVD. also do you have anything else running in the background like DVD43 or css and region free because if you do remove as they conflict with AnyDVD.

I had this same problem with Star Wars IV, V, and VI.
Look into file processing only angle 1. This fixed my looping problems. I also could never get past the scrolling text part, it kept looping on me and in different languages. Programs I use DVDshrink, DVD Decrypter(have not had to use anydvd as of yet), and ifoedit and that is all I use. Look at DVD Decrypter to do file processing. Ifoedit will do it too but DVD Decrypter is easy to learn on.
