I've been researching the sandisk sdmx1 1gb mp3 player. Has anybody had experience with them? I've read alot of reviews but there are always mixed reviews on everything. Most people say they sound great but the case feels cheap, made from plastic. This would be my first mp3 player so I'm going into this blind. I'm the type that likes to do my research before I buy. I don't want to spend alot but want alot, you know how it is.

I've been doing the same as you. I have read reviews on this and one person said they have dropped theirs a few times and it's still running. They say it's very durrable. I'm not sure if that helps you or not. I'm picking one up today so I'll let you know what I think.

Hey jsmith11! I have had this mp3 player for almost 2 days and so far I think it's great for the price. The only thing more I could want is one that plays video, but right now that is out of my price range, lol.
Yes the case that comes with this is made of clear plastic. I guess you could call it cheap, but I like it since you can't really tell it has a case around it. You get to see the great look of the player IMO, while it protects. It's pretty small, but not too small. It's very easy to create folders and add files. I think the navigation through the folders are simple once you play around for a couple mins. And one feature I really like (since I use it for audio books) is that if you pause in the middle of a song, chapter, etc...to save power the device turns itself off after about a min. But once you turn it back on (just push the play button, then hit it again when the file shows up. It only takes a few secs) it plays right from where you've left off, there's no need to fast forward through you're file to find where you were. If you do need to scan through a file it does it pretty fast though. Also the battery life seems to be great. I still have the battery it came with in it (and I fell asleep with it on last night) and it still has 2/3 left. The only downfall is that you need to hook it up to a usb cable (included) instead of one that pops out like some. I myself am very happy with it. Hope this helps.
