A friend of mine told me that the DMS4Pro Non-solder version didn't require a disc swap, but I heard that you need a disc swap no matter what with a non-solder chip. What's the truth?
Plus, what's the difference between Lite and Pro? I just want to be able to play game backups.
I think my previous modchip flashed my bios too hard, will installing the DMS4 EZI fix that problem? Cause I heard it runs off a different bios.

Yes, the dms4 ezi is the only no solder chip that requires no swapping. Not sure about your bios question though.

lets see where to start... modding doesn't involve flashing the ps2s bios like with the xbox so your previous mod didn't flash anything unless you meant you flashed your previous mods bios wrong? I believe the diffrence between lite and pro is that pro has more memory. Needing a boot disc for a no solder mods was true with the old no solder mod. If you want to only play backups then I'd recommend getting a duo2se if you can because it'll be cheaper than the dms4 but, it needs to be soldered. So, if you absolutely do want a solderless no swap solution then the dms4 EZI is the mod for you.

I just realized I put this in the wrong category. Can someone move it to the "Hardware Boot" category?
Ok, the thing was, I got stuck with a cheap copy of a Magic 3.1+ modchip, and my friend told me that it flashed the bios too hard. He said that DMS4 doesn't need to flash the bios, it runs off a different OS. Does that mean that even though the bios is gone (I can't even start the machine without the chip in), if I install a DMS4, it will work?
And what does memory do on the modchip?

It's weird how your friend told you about the magic flashing the bios too hard 'cause I've never heard of such a thing, maybe something got screwed up on the ps2 during the installation that's stoping it to boot without the mod? The memory on the mod is for running homebrew apps off of I believe.

What is the advantage of this over SwapMajic?

advantages are, not having to swap and not having to worry about if the game needs to be rebuilt or patched or extra boot methods to use.

So itll be teh best option......*thumbs up*
Thanks big dawg.
I think ill just go for the Lite version. Like aske above...whatll be the advantage of having the PRo either than just more memory? What purpose does it serve?

so you know,
the difference between the DMS4 Pro and DMS4 Lite is the BIOS it
runs on. And the fact that it has more memory on the chip
The lite has just a BIOS with a lot of good feature
The Pro has a whole OS with hard drive support and other features that the Lite doesn't.
Like the new OS comming out soon will have an integrated cheats feature.
read up on the difference here if you like.
http://www.teamtoxic.com.cn/ ToxicOS is for the Pro
ToxicBIOS is for the Lite
I just noticed they are working an an FTP feature for the chip as well which will be a great feature for those who run their games from a hard drive.
