Hello, I seem to be able to copy dvd's and play them back on my computer fine. The trouble occurs when i try to play the dvd on my home dvd player in the living room. The picture becomes jerky, pixelated or at times pauses for a while. Am I going to have to bin this dvd player? what about firmware updates ...would that help? If i do need a new dvd player can anyone advise me of a good one that can play copied movies without throwing a hissy fit? I don't need a state of the art player as I don't have a widescreen tv, let alone a HDTV
i've owned a FFH-DV25 for around 3 years now, and my laser gave in around 18 months back. it's a real shame it did, the player is awesome to watch movies on.. but it just doesnt read anything. i've been using it on AUX mode since then and hooked up my PS2 to the audio inputs on the back to get stereo sound for movies.
yea, this sucks.. hence me signing up on here especially to ask this: does anyone know how i can fix the laser? maybe adjust the pots or something? i can do this if i am guided through opening up the player, and told how much to turn the pots in which direction, but i don't want to try this myself incase i ruin the entire unit in the process!
if no-one knows how to do this, then perhaps they could lend me some advice on where to purchase another laser to replace the dead one inside?
perhaps this could help the author of this thread too, as it sounds like the problem with yours is the laser is beginning to die.. :( it's having the same problems as mine did when it was on it's way out.
I opened up my FFH-DV25 player and cleaned the lens as i thought it may be that....but it didn't help.
One strange thing i have noticed though is the player seem to be pretty fussy about being moved. This makes me think that getting a good solid level surface for it to sit on may help the laser.
I had thought that my copies were flakey for a while as playback on the FFH-Dv25 had problems with artefacts, pauses and stutter. However when it also wouldn't play originals properly I thought it has to be the player. I've borrowed a cheapo dvd player and it plays everything i've thrown at it so far..and the picture quality has been great....the sound is coming out of the tv at the moment which is not brilliant so I may well follow your example of using the aux on the LG just for its sound capabilities.
I too would love to get it fixed as when it did work, it worked well.
just took mine apart, tried getting access to the bottom of the laser unit and found that this isnt possible.. so i'm gonna put it all back together again and just leave it be until someone else can actually verify a way to fix it!
i dont want to ruin it permanently, which knowing me i'll end up doing.. lol
Just a thought..as I remember it was pretty easy to get the laser eye...i think you have to have the cd drawer open ...that's why you may not have seen it.
the laser eye is easy to get at, yea.. but its the underneath of it i'm trying to get at.. if the laser is anything like that of a Playstation2 then the pots (the laser's power variables) are beneath it. i'm hoping (if someone else confirms it) that increasing the power to the laser eye could fix the problem.. although this is only a complete guess based on similar problems with PS2s!
so yea, putting the last screws back in and shall just stick with the stereo sound for now. just really annoying having 3 more speakers that are/have been completely useless to me!
