Im not really a big fan of the DVD-r media type i really like to use the DVD+r's but recently i purchased a KAWASAKI 9" portable DVD player from TARGET and it seems as tho it only plays DVD-r's so Im kinda pissed because I tried using my burned dvds today and it was like hit and miss it played them but i had to load them up 2-3 times before they came on so now do you think i should just make a back up or my backups with DVD-r for the player or get a new dvd player

TURN OFF THE CAPS LOCK!

Well if your New DVD player is playing the movies at all then it must be able to read the +R format.. but to make things easier.. If your burner supports BIT SETTING AKA BOOKTYPING then you can set the Book Type to DVD-ROM on +R discs and it will then burn DVD's as DVD-ROMS and your Player will think it's a normal store bought DVD...

here is some info on booktyping

Another possibility: Pick up another quality burner with the booktyping capability like benq 1640.After you booktyped the plus format to dvd-rom, those benq backups, they'll play anwhere you want to take them.

I had to fight the wal-mart sale yesterday and picked up that 7" player they had on sale for $79.They only charged me $68. My dad wanted to send this player to the grand kids in tennessee,so I broke it open to test my backups on it. It wouldn't recognize my dash backups, but the booktyped dvd-roms played flawlessly. One disc was even a memorex cmag!
