For music and videos the ipod is by far the best! 30gb vs. a 2gb memory stick?? No contest. Of course the psp is better because it plays games so really it comes down to if you play portable games or not. I dont so i think the ipod is better. I own a 30gb black by the way.

Exactly, that's the 1st thing i thought of when i seen this thread.
Anyways the video (files) are both the same (mp4/aac) so the PSP video quality has to be better since it has the bigger screen.
Edit:' when i say better i mean for video not music.

I have a PSP and the videos on it are amazing! the only thing that suxs is that you can only get max of 2gigs on it. overall I think the PSP is better because of the screen and the games.

2. Who CAREZ bout 30GB?!?!?!? Solution: get DATEL 4GB HD. Its bout t3h same size as ipod mini, but it's slow speed. music and video skips. Solution? It uses CompactFlash MicroDrive technology. Open it up with t3h 1337 5cr3w|)r1v3r and j00l find t3h CF SLOT!!! Buy a HIGH-SPEED 200GB MicroDrive or a 12GB CompactFlash if you're on a tight budget and w00t t3h uber1337 PSP r0x0r t3h BS ipod!!!11!!
You but Highspeed cos t3h original 4GB CF MD was SLOOOOOOOOOOW-speed. Now it's t3h ipod wit da bigga screen plus games.
BTW MicroDrive is slower than CompactFlash, but has more capacity AND uses t3h same slot. Why? MicroDrive is a mini-Hard drive. The pin has to go to the location of the data. CF is flash mem. It's (almost) instant. But it cant hold as much as the mighty miniHD.
3. It can playeth games.
4. Yes, the others are equal, like music, photos... but does it have a BROWSER?!?!?!?
5. Both have Homebrew, but t3h PSP is easier. I've managed to install Linux on a 2nd generation 40GB Black+White screen ipod. It takes AAAAGGGGEEESSSSSSSS... how long for PSP? Shove USB Cable, transfer, done! ipod HB requires partitioning for almost EVERYTHING!!!
6. According to sources, dunno if correct, t3h latest generation ipod has a (BS) "organiser". Sol? HB!!! eg? PSP-PDA v1.1!!!
7. With HB, the PSP can have PODCASTS and STREAMING MUSIC INTERNET RADIO. So BS goes to that "pod"cast.
8. PSP doesn't need n00by software like iTunes.
9. PSP isn't owned by g4y-software-idiotz ppl (aka Apple). Its owned by stingy-phuxx0r1n6-BS-annoying-nonHomebrewing-455h0l3z (aka $Ony.) Both are like M$. Corps that make good products, but phuxx0r you back for it.
10. All same. MP4 (MPEG-4), MP3 (MPEG-2, Layer 3), AVC... But ipod has nooby OGG and no WMA. PSP has sorta-g4y ATRAC3+ and wit da 2.6 upgrade (which i admit is t3h g4y) has WMA. Both have WAV when the PSP is on FW2.0. PSP has better video. Yes, larger filesize, but bigger screen, 16:9, not p155y, and uber1337 quality.
11. For those saying "LOLOMGWTFBBQ!!!111oneoneone!!! I cannit afford t3h uber1337 PSP + DatelHD + 200GB MD ZOMG!!!ARRGH!!!", sony and sandisk are gunna make t3h 32GB and 40GB MS! So j00 don haf ta worry that u can only afford t3h slow speed 200GB thingy. 40GB matches the average ipod! Sandisk have already make a 40GB SD Card. It's valued at $500USD, which is t3h 1337 as compared to the price of a 12GB CF. T3h MS will be t3h same, only a bit more expensive, cos f--- $ony, stingy 845+4r|)z make too much money for themselves. A SONY Normal 1GB MS is $299AUD RRP where a Toshiba High Speed 1GB SD Card is $88AUD. High-speed sony on rrp? kill me! sandisk normal is even faster than sony high speed plus cheaper! Plus on ebay, a 1GB SAndisk Ultra2 (Sandisk's high-speed) MS is fraking $80AUD wit $10AUD shipping!!! OK back to the point... IPOD SMELLS FUNNY!!!
12. Ipod stinks when you put it in the microwave. PSP gives a scent of Shark Fin Soup (maybe becuase it was manufactured in China and the workers didn't wash their hands and it gives a nice aroma...)
13. Ipod smells funny normally.
14. Ipod is evil.
15. The owner of the maker of ipod, aka CEO of Apple, smells funny.

He plans to unleash the true evil power of the ipods on december 25, 2050, where he will unleash the EVIL U2 + BONO's zombies (the ones you see on TV are decoys, they're really dead) and kill everyone. $ony's evilness is more evil and i hate to say, more uber1337. 17. Teh 1337 use t3h PSP. t3h n00by use ipod cos they think it so cool. If they were smart, they'd say "ooh 30GB" but these noobs go "ooh the hotteest (cough) guy in yr10 has one"
18. Do a google img search for "behold the power of the psp" it has hot naked chicks licking PSPs and doing (cough) "things" with 'em. At least they can score chicks. What can ipod do?
19. ipod has a larger revenue bonus becuase of slave labor. PSP manufacure is less cos they pay their dudes.

one thing I forgot to mention: The PSP's preferred case, the Logitech Playgear Pocket is moddable. DIY skins, just format, print and apply. Faceplates are moddable. Sooner we'll see extreme modding like PCs: neon lights, fan lights, overclocking, modchips with "1337" on them written in neon lights...
What can the p155y ipod do? all the cases are fixed - even the most preferred one - you can't mod a ipod much - blah!

prefer psp mainly down to the fact that no matter what way you look at it the ipod really sucks ass
psps got a bigger screen and it can do more than the ipod

psp can emulate almost every system before the ps1 and n64 era. those 2 systems are being workied on. that adds alot of playtime. hmmm emulators.
BTW, anyone know how long the battery life for that ipod is.

Ipod battery is short as. And most ipod owners are stupid enough to leave the backlight permanently on to make it "look cool" *cough*. Drains it much faster.
The PSP's is like 1200mAh roughly 6hrs low backlight, mid volume, headphones, 266MHz clock.
roughly 4hrs mid backlight, high vol, speakers, 333MHz clock.
The ipod is like 1000mAh. for the l4m3rs who keep the backlight on, it won't last longer than the PSP. sorta like 3hrs.
