About every 15 seconds or so(maybe even more often than that) the movie skips for about a second. The audio is perfect though. I have no probs converting to DVD files. The DVD's I create from avi's play perfect in my computer dvd player. Im using 8x DVD's but burn at 4. I have tried all different speeds and methods and get the same results everytime.!! arg Please help!

Well it could be a Number of Things Like Converting your AVI files to DVD useing a Different Frame Rate than the Source can cause this problem.....

Most Software Can Not Properly convert Frame Rates which results in the Video haveing Skips in it so you should allways Make sure you are encodeing to the same Frame rate as the Source AVI file and if this isn"t Possible because the Source Frame Rate is on a different Standard that the Target Frame Rate then you should use Proper encodeing software for Converting Frame rates....

If for Instance your AVI file has a Frame Rate of 23.976fps and you are Makeing a 29.976fps NTSC DVD, in this Case you would NOT encode the File directly to 29.976fps because this will result in Choppy Playback ,The proper way would be to encode it at 23.976fps with 3:2 Pulldown which will make it 29.976fps....

Also if the AVI file was 25fps and you were makeing a 29.976fps NTSC DVD then you could not encode it directly to 29.976fps useing most encoders because they can not properly convert the Frame Rate and Will result in choppy playback...
In this Case I would either use AVISynth to convert the Frame Rate or use a Encoder that Can Properly convert Frame Rates Like "Canopus Procoder".....

This is all I can think of becides bad Media or burning too fast that would Cause this Type of problem....

It depends on the encoder...which one are you useing???


AVISynth doesn"t have a GUI or any sort of Interface, the program and it"s Plugins are all Implemented through a Scripting Language written on Notepad files so you have to learn how to write a type of Code Called "Script" to use the Program and It"s Features....

It is a pretty advanced tool and not for the easily discouraged, I use it all the Time but it took me a while to learn it....

im using divx2dvd to make VOB files then DVD Shrink to maek iso,then burn image with Nero. I keep trying but get the same results everytime. When I burn to VCD it works perfect. I just dont understand...ive wasted like 40 dvds by now. Hope that helps with more info...

what encobder will do 2:3 pulldown?? Because most of the files aer 23.976fps..

do i need to convert my avi/mpg files to 2:3 pulldown and then convert them to DVD files?? or just convert directly to dvd files?
