NEED HELP WITH CODEC

I just finished downloading a movie and when I play it, the video would start and then the correct audio for that would match that scene would play about 7 seconds later. Does any one know what codec I should use, when I downloaded the the movie the descripion of the movie it said it supports codec:AC3 for audio and codec:xvid for video.
