Every time I've backed up single-layer DVDs to a DVD+R or DVD-R I have just ripped it using DVD Decrypter and burned it using Nero, and it worked fine. Now that I have some Verbatim DVD+R DLs, I tried ripping Spy Game using DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 and burning it using Nero 6 Ultra Edition. Everything appeared to work fine, and the DVD plays fine on my pc. When I play it on my standalone DVD player it shows the copyright warning, a Ritek Digital Studios video clip, and finally a Macrovision Protection video clip, then freezes completely.

This appears to be a copyright protection measure, but how do I get around it, or could it be a compatability issue with the DL media and my player? I haven't tried backing up any other discs to DVD+R DL before or since, so it may be this particular movie, or possibly not.

u serious it has a "RITEK digital studios" vid. clip?/? i have never heard of that before..but, it sounds interesting...it's ironic to me that you state you are using Verbatim DVD+R DLs, yet a "Ritek" video clip appears...that is weird...

anyways, what drive are you using to burn? make sure the firmware is up to date on your drive...for MY DVD+R DL backups, i ONLY use DVD Decrypter for the ENTIRE process...haven't made a "coaster" yet on both Ritek DL and Verbatim DL :) use the ISO READ mode (to rip onto your harddrive) then, choose the .mds file once it's done ripping (after you change to ISO WRITE mode of course) and burn baby burn~ :) good luck~

I'm using a Sony DRU-700A drive. I also have now identified the video clips I mentioned as the ones that normally appear after the movie is finished. So the problem seems like it is an authoring error causing the disc to skip to the last title, except for the fact that I did not reauthor the DVD in any way, and that it works properly on my PC.
I ripped the VIDEO_TS folder using Decrypter, and burned with Nero using the files. This has always worked with single-layer discs, is there some reason why it needs to be done with a disc image instead of the VIDEO_TS files with dual-layer discs?
