What now is the best alternative freeware version to DVD Decrypter?

DVDFab Decrypter is free and available from http://www.filepedia.com just look under rippers. It is just a ripper and does not burn like Decrypter you will have to use either Decrypter, Nero or another program to burn.

Any burning software that that is as good as DVD Decrypter and is free as well?

If you use DVDFab, then also get DVD Shrink and ImgBurn. This is all you will need in terms of freeware for quite some time. Also, look around for DVDD. It is still the best ripper out there and can get past all of the new movies.
