I tried installing a Matrix infinity SE 1.54 in my v7 PS2. When i put it all back together and powered it up, nothing came up on thee screen, no sound or and dvd drive activity. I took it apart again and removed the chip, only to power it up again and have it do the exact same thing. I was checking over theboard/testing the onboard fuses etc. and I found that the 3.3v power supply rail was shorted to ground. I checked over the board completly (for solder splashes, briged tracks) and I couldnt find anything that could be shorting it out. I event remover a couple of components that were between the 3.3v rail and ground. Still no luck. If my board is screwed, does anyone have a spare board that I could buy. Heck, id even be willing to sell the broken board to anyone that wants it. Ive done a few tests thatshow the BA chips are fine, from which i understand to be quite expansive ( from what Ive been told)
Alright i found the short, and replaced the fuse and i now have dvd activity, eject, eject lights but still no sound or video.
I managed to get another v7 board off a friend, installed the chip, and it powers up fine, as if the chip want installed at all. the weird thing is i can press and hold start when it boots and itll say the chips disabled. it does all the thing it says it will do with the chip installed except it isnt showing any matrix logo when it boots, it just has a black screen for about a second, the screen kind of flashes then it boots up normally. It also doesnt boot at all when i hold any button down when i turn it on Also im getting disk read errors, as it looks and sounds like the laser isnt foucousing properly. The laser is only a few months old and i know it works fine. Im sure this has something to do with the chip. lol its just one thing after another with these flimsy pieces of crap..
well i got the chip working, it was one of the bios wires that wasnt soldered to the bios chip properly. now the chip works fine, it also already has the v1.54 bios already on it. now the only problem i have with it is how reliable the chip is. sometimes the chip wont get activated at all, and it just boots like normal. other times itll boot the chip every time and work perfectly. what the problem...... is it just a thing ps2 chips do? or is the chip screwed in some way?
The Matrix Infinity SE chip is a clone; of course a clone isn't as reliable as the real chip! Also, don't update the firmware for any clones, or they're useless.
