I've been wondering about DVD encryption program and other programs. that decryped the dvd encryption. Now that the software has been totaly removed. I know that there is also another encryption by sony (ARccOS) is being used of some DVDs. My main question is whats the percentage of DVDs being encrypted with both.

Is the sony encryption only used on sonys movies or is sony encryption being used every where. Like on different movie that are not from sony picutres.

Also is there other encryptions out there being used on DVDs or is the Macrovision encryption still the main one being used on a grater no. of DVDs.

Macrovision is on all disks, you will also find ARccOS, Settec Alpha-DVD, Puppetlock, and now Ripguard. The main movie companies that use these protections are Universal and Columbia. As far as the percentage it is not that great the companies pick and choose which movies they want to use the protection on. Madagascar had ripguard, yet War of the Worlds had nothing.
