i know this hasent really got anything to do with back-up discusion but how do i seed files in bicomet?
and then what does it actually do when i seed?

seeding is merely leaving the torrent file open and allowing people to download from you. Once your file reaches 100%, you're officially seeding until you stop the upload.

The other way to seed is if you are the actual owner of the file. If thats the case, you cant use bitcomet to do that (to my knowledge, since I dont use it). There are other bit torrent file server programs for setting up your own tracker... but I dont think that's what you're trying to do.

If you're using someone elses tracker (like unrealtorrents) or your own, then it is possible to seed in BitComet.

In BitComet, go to File then Open torrent. Now under the location bar will be Task: and select Seed in the first drop-down menu, then select Start Now or Start Later in the second drop-down menu. Then go to the location bar and select Browse and find the directory or the directory where the file is that you want to seed. Hit OK, then select the other OK at the bottom of the box and it should work.
