Hi all,

Up until recently I had 2 happy hard drives in my machine. Recently the one with my OS on it died and I had to reinstall on another drive. I installed xp back on and put Ace mega codec pack on(I think this is what I had before). However it now seems that all my divx and xvids are corrupt even though they were on a completely different drive from the one that failed!!?? (always been on my slave drive) The drive appears to be fine in diagnostic tests but the .avis either don't play at all (cannot render the file) or in media player classic they play for 15 or so seconds then stop. They report to be the correct size. When i try and use divfix etc etc I got messages like "not an avi/video file!" and gspot says this too. Please has anyone got any ideas what is wrong? Are they repairable ? How did they become corrupted on a totally different drive from the one that failed ? They all worked fine before. :(

Cheers
Adam

Make sure the correct codecs are installed. If running windows xp go to control panel, sounds & audio devices, hardware then high light video codecs, click properties, then properties again there you will see a list of codecs installed.

Good Luck
