Hi All,

I seem to have amassed loads of video files(varying lengths and formats) from all over the place on my hard drive. I would like to catalogue them into similar subjects, then burn them!! Is it possible to take various formats and sized files, convert them into a format that is able to be burnt to cd/dvd, then watched on a dvd player. The files are everything from mpeg 3/4/5, avi, windows media, everything and can be anything from a soccer clip just a few seconds long, to an hours fishing documentary!!

A friend advised me to use TMPEng, to put an avi into mpeg to burn. I tried that, but after encoding for 6 hours, it told me I had 79 still to go, so I gave up.....it was a 2 hour movie!

I'm a complete newbie, so any help greatly appreciated!

Hi - if you have WinXP, you could use MovieMaker. Try importing your video file into it and then saving it to 'dv'avi' format. You'll get the best quality that way but sometimes the file(s) can be large. I don't think it'll make a big difference if your clips are seconds long but the size can add up when you go burn a dvd.
