disk read error but only happens with swap magic pls help!!!

i have a ver 5 ps2 and when i load my swap magic it comes up with disk read error but when i load up other ps2 games it will work fine
pls help me thank you

I have a ver. 7 ps2. same problem. I have to insert and eject swap magic like 30 times before it reads. this is very frustrating. the disc is not scratched so i think it's a ps2 problem. anyone know a solution?

I had the same exact problem. More than likely, you just got a faulty SM disc. You should try contacting the company that you got it from and get a replacement.

I did and they sent me a replacement-- with the same results. Is my laser dying? Does replacing it require any soldering? My ps2 has no problem reading original dvd games (or the backups once I get swap magic to run)It's just the swap magic dvd version. I tried booting with the swap magic cd version, ejecting and inserting the original dvd and then swapping it with the backup, but the screen just goes blank. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hmm do you have the new Slim Ps2 aka Version 12? since from what i read its not compatible
