I have a SCPH-70011 slim PS2, and I wanted to play one of my PS1 games on it today but it wouldn't recognize my PS1 memory card. (SCPH-1020)

I got the memory card in Japan, it is a dark grey color, I'm not sure but is that a factor? I thought that the memory cards worked on all the consoles.

Or is my PS2 not compatible with my PS1 memory card? :(

all ps2's i believe can support all ps1 memory cards.have you tried using that memory card on another system? also try using a usa memory card. when i had tekken 3 i had it shipped from japan and there systems are different than ours. there was a special way to load it. so that may be your problem.
