Hi.

When dvd files are very large and has limited files to adjust or delite under the 'custom ratio tab. How can i compression beyond the compression limit under the 'custom ratio' tab (or is that it)?

I need to shrink the dvd contents more without altering the audio and ISO files. If you able to help out i'd be much appreciated.

Thanks
Lambie

Why dont you try clonedvd2 with anydvd. clonedvd 2 can keep what you want and delete what you dont want keeping the menus so you could make a disc with just the menus and the movie and a disc with the menus and the extras. all you do is when selecting titles to keep at the top check preserve menus.

If you do not have either of the mentioned programs, get VobBlanker and blank out whatever you do not need. This will save you about $60. Also, it is very rare that a movie will need much compression. Only titles like Star Wars Ep III, Kingdom of Heaven, etc...

Most movies will be in the 85% to 95% range after you get rid of some the previews and some of the extras.

I've been keeping all the extras and compressing usually about 60% to 80% which looks decent on a normal tv, but be warned, normal tv's blurr out a lot of imperfections and now I have a new HD LCD, you can see just how bad they are. Don't ever go below 70% if you plan to use a HD tv.

I might have a look at that one, there are options in shrink to improve quality but they do slow things down a lot.
I think though that you rarely have to burn a disc right there and then, so why not leave it overnight or something and use the option to shut down the PC when burning is complete? It must be worth the wait for better playback later. If you for example, only had 10 mins before the disc had to go back to the rental shop (not endorsing that by the way)then use DVD Decrypter or similar to quickly get the disc onto your HD in full, then do all the shrink stuff later when you have the time.
