I came across this whilst trying to find a way to trace child porn distributors on the network, after being totally blown off by the KazaaLite creator, Shaun Garriock. "oh well, cr*p happens, nothing to do with us"
I thought it's something that people concerned with P2P privacy & security (dream on) would also like to know.
Anyone can be (and THESE people are being) tracked on the kazaa \ lite and fasttrack based system (there are a few other fileshare programs on the same network).
This is mostly also to warn anyone who feels the urge to 'curiously dabble' in kiddy porn (like the great many of you with only 1 or 2 items out of hundreds or thousands of 'normal' mp3, avi & software files in their lists).
Fasttrack records ALL transfers to and from your machine, along with your file list (NOT just what you have in your shared folder(s) but also what you have downloaded in the past and then moved).
It records your IP address and port, supernode IP address and port, plus a unique user ID (similar to Microsoft) which identifies the exact machine (for networked establishments)
Don't believe me? use DAT Viewer (free with some later versions or search google and download it)
Start a download, open DAT Viewer and go to the download folder.
select a file in transit, and right mouse
select 'show advanced info'
you'll see something like this:-

Hope this growing child porn problem can be reduced by drawing the distributors attention to this, and also might push Fasttrack to implement filtering for this material (only this, I don't care at all about 'normal' porno, software, music or movies).
Also, as users yourselves, I'm sure you would agree that it is only common sense to try wherever possible to warn off people you come across with this stuff, as, if the FBI start raiding users & the media gets hold of it, fasttrack WILL be shut down very quickly, and then where would we all go?
I am all for privacy & security, and love the kazaa etc. system, but why are there always a few who screw things up for the rest of us?
Sorry if I Pss any perverts or security/free speech people off, but I, as a father myself, will not stand by and allow this on something my own kids have used.
If anyone IS bothered about this growing CP problem, and also about the major security flaw, PLEASE forward this to anyone you know uses the network, and mention it on other P2P boards until fasttrack takes notice.
