I have been reading around on different threads on burning PS2 games and every once in awhile I will see that someone post a step by step guide on how to burn a game. In the explanation I see that they say to burn the disks at 2x or 3x. but do not post a reason why. Why can you only burn at those speeds? My burner is faster than that. Why can't I burn a dvd game at max speed? Does the data get corrupt? is there something in the burn process that the modded PS2 doesn?t see? I am using a v14 PS2 with swap magic and magic keys if that has anything to do with it.

burning with slower speeds basically makes things easier for your laser although, there's some who think the burn speed doesn't matter as long as it's good quality media.

Easy on the laser? Would that be my burner or the PS2. I ususally burn movies at max speed with no problems. I use Maxell DVD+R's

Burn no faster than 4x for the best results and use good quality media

easier on the ps2s laser. I've heard mixed reviews of maxell, I haven't tried them myself although I recently tried some cheap brand (I think they were called dynex) and so far they work fine. Other brands I tried that worked for me are optodisc, khypermedia and ritek/ridata. It basically comes down to your system, trial and error works best (just don't go out and buy a 50 or 100 pack of some cheap brand or no name without trying them first).
