Out of all the DVD's I've bought, I seem to have trouble backing up any Sony/Tristar/Columbia movies. I dont know what bug they drop into my computer, but if I try and back them up I only have problems. Re Format HHD and start from scratch. It only works if I use a capture card, but it has poor quality and takes forever to backup. Anyone out there smarter then me?

first its HDD not HHD just for future reference.. anyway to help...

sony/columbia/tristar are always tring to bring out new copy protections to stop people from distributing their movies on the internet, sometimes they are succesful untill someone cracks their protection which you can currently find happening on the movies Bewitched and Madagascar {from what ive heard around the forum}...

the easiest way to fix this is to use software like DVD43(free), or AnyDVD(shareware) to run in the background and to copy them in software like DVD Shrink and Nero...

Many ways to skin a cat

A simple method to bypass the protection and rip Madagascar and other Sony movies is:

Rip using the ISO Read mode in DVD Decrypter and save to hard drive

Open DVD Shrink - Go to File - Open Disk Image

Analyse - Re-Author - then burn with Nero or similar.

Easy.

Dumb me, I purchased a CD on eBay about 2 years ago. It turned out to be DVD Decrpter must be older ver. but it was hard to understand because I was running DVDXCopy at the same time. Using Decrypter is like starting over. A bug was droped in my computer (i think from sony). So the last one I tried to copy using X copy Decrypter popped up at the same time. so I was confused so I closed them out. I really thought I was smart, but now I'm not so sure. Thanks to all who replied to my thread. I will try and figure this thing out. Danmax

Hey dont get me wrong, If I had knowen that Derypter was out there I would have downloaded it. The sell only listed it as better then X Copy and it was around $20.00. I figured for that price I'd try it. Thanks for everyones help. as soon as I install my new HDD I'll go to the link. danmax

ok I got some TDK -R's at Curcuit City to day. I opened up Nero to check to see code, and check settings. The Disc code is TTG02. "I am in my Nero Info Tool". On the configuration tab It shows the ASPI installation. It shows that the System ASPI is not installed. If I click on the check tab, it goes to Nero. It shows that Nero's ASPI is installed and working properly. Now my question is this. When I run Nero to do my copy, will it use Nero's ASPI, or do I need to install the systems ASPI, or get it working. I want to thank Phantom, and AABBCCDD for your help. Note, I have an AOpen Burner, which I am removing and replacing it with a Plextor Burner when I replace my HDD.I also need to know can we email each other, or do we have to do the thread thing. P.S. went to your web site. Its really cool and shows me your top notch. Donate YES. but I want to be student and You my Mentor. danmax
