Lot sof people have told me that they use Shrinkit to copy an image onto a dvd that is largert than 4464 but when I try it , it doesnt shrink it but gives me an error stating the image is too large
I used DvdDecryptor to copy the ISO image to my drive and then opened up shrink and the image is 4570MB
How do i use shrink to put the image onto a regular dvd-r?
thanks

Hi,
Easiest way is to change the settings and change the target size to 4300mb. http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/software.htm use that link to check out the famous bbmayo guides and see the guide in the software tab at the top of the page. Also might be easier if you rip in file mode, run thru DVD Shrink (after changing the output target) and then burning to dvd (option also included in the guide for burning with decrypter or nero). Good luck and post back if you need additional info.

that site you give has no links to examples or manuals
it only lists the different software programs with links to download them
it would be appreciated if the ways to accomplish the actual shrinkage could be given
thanks

Just use DVD Decrypter and rip the dvd in file mode then load it into DVD Shrink by clicking on open files. Guides are in my sig.

something everyone says it will do but no one seems to know exactly how to do it

Both bbmayo's and Pete's guides in my sig show you how to set up and use both dvd decrypter and dvd shrink. I don't understand what you're having a problem with. Everybody that has offered you help in this thread does know how to use these programs. All the information you need are in those guides (2 of the best guides available for these utility's).

actually the only purpose that gave an accurtate link to a guide site was yours, the other one only gave a link to a download site for the programs but no guides, even thought it was said to have them
thanks for the guides, I will read them and see if they help
the problem, since you say you dont understand it, is that if I have a dvd that takes over 4464 mb, Shrinkn keeps saying the file is too large and will not copy the file to a dvd.
now everyone says shrink supposedly will take a larger file and "shrink it" (how it gets its name apparantly) to fit on a regular drive, but when I try it, it doesnt, and I cant find, nor can anbyone tell me, so far, what settings in sshrink's prefs that allow it to do this.
thats the problem, i have been having

I really appreciate you listing the guide in your signature for everyone else

Opus54,
Glad to see you got things figured out and are on your way to making some backups. Make sure you use only good quality media and keep burn speeds at 4x at least untill you are sure everything is working well. Read through those websites. There is a lot of valuable info there. Good luck.
