I am recording an avi file using "Microsoft MPEG-4 Video Code V2". Each frame in every file that I save has frame x and frame x+1 superimposed on top of each other, and runs for two frames (it runs at normal speed). Then frame x+2 and frame x+3 are superimposed on top of eachother.... Why is this and is there a way that I can change it so that the frames are recorded seperately? I have "ffdshow video encoder" on my computer and on its property page there are all kinds of settings, but I have not found anything that works yet. I appreciate an ideas.

So you are capturing using FFDShow to encode with MS MPEG-4 V2? Why would you want MS MPEG-4? So more details of exactly what you are doing might help.

That is a good question, why would I want to encode with MS MPEG-4 V2? This is my first experience with codecs of any sort, so I don't really know. I was having issues with another codec (I want to say DV Video Encoder, but I'm not sure) in that it was only recording at 30frames per second when my cameras' frame rates were 60fps. I switched to the MS MPEG-V2 and it solved this, the save rate was the same as what the cameras were transmitting.

I am using ICImagingControl (an evaluation version is available at http://www.imagingcontrol.com) as a plugin for VB6 and I have tried several codecs to save my AVI files, including MS MPEG-4 as a stand alone, and several codecs under the umbrella of FFDShow.

The program that I wrote works fine with the Basler and Unibrain IEEE 1394 cameras that I have tested, but with the S-Video JVC camera, I have this issue with frames 1 and 2 superimposed, 3 and 4, 5 and 6...

Is there a way that I can attach a sample?
